Geo-Institute Graduate Student Organization (GIGSO)

The Geo-Institute (G-I) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is a specialty organization focused on the geo-industry. It was created by ASCE in 1996 and it aims to enhance the geo-professional's career development through technology transfer, networking and coalition-building, and leadership on emerging issues.

The Geo-Institute Graduate Student Organization (GIGSO) at Purdue University was founded in May 2006, in keeping with the long drawn history and tradition of geotechnical engineering at Purdue University. The GSO aims at being a portal for students to gain access to the most up-to-date knowledge of practice and cutting-edge research in the field of geo-engineering. It also strives to be a platform for exchange and dissemination of knowledge and to work as a link between the industry, the academia, and the students. Currently, the GSO is engaged in promoting and organizing various educational, professional, and social activities that are beneficial to the geotechnical community at Purdue University.
