McCoy Distinguished Lecture - Signal Processing at Light Speed

Femtosecond light pulses persist for less than one trillionth of a second, much faster than even the speediest electronic devices. Professor Andrew Weiner has pioneered optical techniques that overcome the speed limitations of electronics to generate ultrashort optical pulses with arbitrary waveforms programmed according to user specification. Applications range from fundamental science, such as laser control over quantum mechanical processes, to improved transmission of high-speed lightwave and wireless signals.
