Purdue academy trains next generation of energy experts

Dressed in white lab coats and plastic goggles, Leo Lillard, 15, and HaiHeng Cheav, 18, huddled together Tuesday morning, deep in conversation over blade designs for a wind turbine.
Two thin triangular blades, which had been fashioned together using cardboard and wooden dowel rods, hadn’t proved successful wind conductors for the high schoolers who were visiting Purdue University for its second Energy Academy, a weeklong program aimed at preparing a new generation of energy experts.
