Assistant Professor of Pharmacology The Department of Basic Medical Sciences (BMS), Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine (PVM) invites applications for a full-time, academic year tenure-track assistant professor of pharmacology. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in pharmacology or related field and relevant post-doctoral experience. Preference will be given to individuals who also hold a D.V.M. (or equivalent). The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an extramurally-funded research program; participate in interdisciplinary and collaborative research that has emphasis on animal models and translational research; and teach in professional and graduate programs in the PVM. Current areas of research emphasis in the PVM include cancer biology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, and infectious disease; preference will be given to individuals with research expertise in drug discovery, pharmacogenomics, or other areas related to cancer therapeutics. Faculty in BMS participate in cross-campus interdisciplinary programs and can become members of centers and institutes such as the NCI-designated Center for Cancer Research that encompasses drug delivery & molecular sensing and medicinal chemistry groups, and various research and entrepreneurial centers in Discovery Park. Further involvement in translational research is available via the NIH-sponsored Indiana Clinical and Translational Science Institute which provides opportunities for collaboration with Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis and industry. The strategic plan of the PVM encourages multidisciplinary discovery programs and promotes individual faculty, staff, and student development and a collegial work environment enhanced by diversity.
