Alan Beck is the director of the Center of Human-Animal Bond. He is an expert on the dynamic relationship between people and animals and how each influences the psychological and physiological state of the other. 

He is the author of "Between Pets and People: The Importance of Animal Companionship" and "Ecology of Stray Dogs: A Study of Free-Ranging Urban Animals."
