COVID-19 public health emergency to end May 11, 2023

With one of the two national emergencies addressing COVID-19 brought to a close earlier in April and the other set to expire on May 11, 2023, some changes are coming to Purdue University and Purdue Global health plans.

Beginning May 12, 2023:

COVID-19 vaccine: The COVID-19 vaccine will be covered the same as other seasonal vaccines and boosters. The plan will pay 100% with no member cost share.

Over-the-counter (OTC) COVID-19 tests: OTC COVID-19 tests will no longer be covered under the health plan; however, FSA and HSA funds can still be used to purchase at-home testing kits.

COVID-19 testing via in-network provider: COVID-19 testing administered by an in-network health care provider will be covered; deductible and coinsurance will apply.

Dispensing of COVID-19 oral antivirals (Paxlovid and Molnupiravir): No change to coverage. These drugs will continue to be covered at $0 cost share until further notice.

COVID-19 monoclonal antibodies: No change in coverage. Only administered by a medical provider.

See the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Fact Sheet for details.
