Upcoming Healthy Boiler workshop to focus on strength training; register by Feb. 22

As part of the Healthy Boiler workshop series, a four-week virtual strength-training program will be offered Feb. 29 through March 21. One to One Strong will take place from noon to 1 p.m. ET on Thursdays and supports the Healthy Boiler Program’s physical health pillar.

“The program is designed to teach the fundamentals of resistance training and guide participants as they create individualized resistance training programs that are realistic, manageable and will contribute to their overall health and fitness goals,” said Lindsay Bloom, health coach at Purdue Fort Wayne who will be leading the sessions.

Each class will include both an educational and active component, and participants will be encouraged to meet with a Center for Healthy Living health coach for a pre- and post-program InBody assessment. The InBody scale uses patented bioelectrical impedance technology to measure the entire body in five different segments: right arm, left arm, torso, right leg and left leg. Results will show individuals their body distribution of fat, water and muscle.

Those interested should register by Feb. 22 via the Healthy Boiler Portal. A registration link can be found under the “Healthy Boiler Workshops” section on the portal’s home page. Hover over the workshop’s square and hit “Submit” to register.

Healthy Boiler workshops are free to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff and their dependents.
