Thumbs Up

"Thumbs Up" gives faculty and staff the chance to recognize others on campus for a job well done.

This week's "Thumbs Up" go to:

Eric Marquis

Eric Marquis (Building Services): Quick thanks to Eric Marquis, custodial crew chief for Krannert and Rawls Hall. Eric maintains good communication, letting me know what custodial may need or is working on, highlighting areas that they will focus on or that I might need to take a look at. Whenever my facilities department notices something that needs additional attention, Eric is quick to reply and often addresses the situation personally, making sure the building needs are met and that high standards are achieved. It is very much appreciated. – Michael Humphrey (School of Management administration and instruction)

Clifton Frier

Clifton Frier (Procurement Services): I contacted expeditor Cliff Frier on a Friday searching for a part to repair a unit in the dining court the following week. I needed the part ASAP as the dining court would be closed, and that is the perfect time to get work done there. Cliff contacted the parts supplier only to find the part was in Plainfield, Indiana, and it wouldn't arrive in time to make the repairs. Clif traveled outside of work to Plainfield to get the part and hand delivered it to me on Monday. The machine was repaired by Wednesday and placed back into service. All thanks to Cliff Frier for going above and beyond. – Michael Berninger (Operations and Maintenance)

Marliese Orr

Marliese Orr (Procurement Services): Marliese helped me navigate a tricky travel reimbursement at the 11th hour, right before winter break, without any notice. She was a delight to work with, sharing helpful tips and laughter as she pointed me in the right direction and (virtually) held my hand through notations and best practices. Truly a wonderful interaction! – Holly Tittle-Hudson (College of Liberal Arts administration)

Steven Hauntz

Steven Hauntz (Operations and Maintenance): Steven happened upon us trying to move a broken piece of awkward furniture to the dumpster. With helping hands and a smile on his face, Steven helped us out of our office, into the elevator and kindly finished taking the broken furniture to the dumpster. Thank you, Steven, for helping us! Your time was greatly appreciated. – Kristy Bennett and Gina Haines (both Curriculum and Instruction)
