July 22 2015

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Indiana Integrated Resource Management program, sponsored by the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine, will host a field day for beef producers Aug. 24 at Scenic View Farm in Lawrenceburg.

The event runs from 2-5 p.m. The farm is located at 16687 Scenic Drive.

"Scenic View Farm is an excellent example of a progressive, modern beef operation," said W. Mark Hilton, Indiana IRM coordinator and clinical professor of food animal production medicine at Purdue. "Over the years, the owners have made many renovations to their facilities and improvements to their herd, which will be shared on the tour."

The discussion topics are pasture management, feedlot operation, producing and marketing freezer beef and improving herd genetics.

The educational portion of the field day is free, but there is a $13 charge to attend the optional dinner session.

Participants are advised to wear appropriate footwear. The field day includes walking tours of the pasture and handling facilities.

Registration ends Aug. 21. Call the Purdue Large Animal Hospital during business hours at 765-494-8548 to sign up. Please specify if the registration includes the dinner.
