Statement from Purdue President Mitch Daniels on passing of Wayne Townsend

July 3, 2015

"Indiana just lost a great citizen and one of our greatest Boilermakers. On behalf of the entire Purdue family, I offer condolences to the Townsend family and sincere thanks for a lifetime of unsurpassed service." – Purdue President Mitch Daniels

Townsend, a 1951 Purdue College of Agriculture graduate, served as a Purdue trustee from 1989 through 2004. Just last fall, in November 2014, Townsend was surprised with Purdue’s Order of the Griffin, the university’s highest honor, presented by President Daniels during President’s Council Annual Weekend.
