Walnut Street Theatre to present 'A Moon for the Misbegotten' at Purdue
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Walnut Street Theatre will bring "A Moon for the Misbegotten," playwright Eugene O'Neill's final play and only love story, on Feb. 18 at Purdue's Loeb Playhouse. This 7:30 p.m. performance is presented by Purdue Convocations.
Ticket holders are invited to attend a pre-show discussion at 6:30 p.m. in Stewart Center, Room 310, with Tom Adler, professor emeritus of English at Purdue, who will discuss "A Moon for the Misbegotten."
Under an autumn moon on a Connecticut tenant farm in 1923, two lost souls find hope: Josie Hogan, a boisterous Irish woman with a quick tongue and a tarnished reputation; and James Tyrone Jr., a tortured alcoholic and prodigal son drowning his demons in self-pity and remorse. Sparks fly, but can love possibly be enough to overcome lifetimes of disappointment? "Moon" is another major work from Philadelphia's Walnut Street Theatre, which returns to Purdue following its production of David Auburn's "Proof" in 2012.
Tickets are $30 for adults and $22 for those 18 years and younger, Purdue students and Ivy Tech Lafayette students. Tickets are available at the Stewart Center box office at 765-494-3933 or 800-914-SHOW. Group tickets are also available to groups of 10 more.
