Economist available to discuss Great Britain’s vote to exit EU

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Jerry Lynch, professor of economics in Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management, is an expert in monetary theory and policy, macroeconomics, and international trade and finance. He can talk about the economic implications of Great Britain’s vote to withdraw from the European Union.

The international community is focused on the Thursday (June 23) referendum. Voters in the United Kingdom will decide if Britain should withdraw from the European Union, an issue with both immediate and long-term implications for the global economy.

Lynch has prepared a video interview that explains what’s behind the so-called “Brexit” movement and how it will impact both the stock market and trade agreements. The video interview is available at: https://youtu.be/Q8VLpaSTYhg

Possible topics Lynch can discuss include:

* The impact an exit will have on Great Britain’s economy

* Possible impact to the world economy if an exit advances

* Trade pact negotiations with the European Union and international community

* The political sentiment behind the proposed exit

* Business and environmental regulations connected to an exit

Lynch is a highly decorated teacher and previously served as interim dean for the Krannert School of Management. He was voted by master’s students as the recipient of the Salgo-Noren Award as outstanding instructor in 2009-10, the fifth time he has received the honor. He is a Fellow of the Teaching Academy at Purdue, and was listed in 1994 by Business Week a one of the 12 best teachers nationally in schools of business. A military veteran, Lynch has taught in a master's program on Air Force bases in Germany and Crete, and he was a visiting professor at universities in England, Finland, and France.
