WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University Galleries welcomes the community to “Wintry Mix,” a weeklong series of free lunchtime events and concerts by local performers, to be held on weekdays Dec. 12-16 in the Fountain Gallery, 330 Main Street, in downtown Lafayette.

“Wintry Mix” is a special offering between semesters and a unique holiday break for the local community. Each day at noon, a different event will be featured in the gallery among the artworks on display. The “Jean Koeller: Under the Sky” exhibit of paintings has been extended for this event. Visitors are invited to bring a lunch. Light refreshments will be provided.

Donations will be accepted for the performers and their local charities of choice. The schedule for the week includes:

* Mon. Dec. 12, noon to 1 p.m. Drop-in Printmaking. Purdue Galleries’ hands-on multiple-color printmaking activity has been a favorite with audiences both young and old throughout the community for years. Come try your hand and make some prints of your own. All materials provided free of charge.

* Tues. Dec. 13, noon to 1 p.m. Games Day. The perfect midday break: unwinding with a good game over lunch. We’ll have a range of options, from board games to Nintendo.

* Wed. Dec. 14, noon to 1 p.m. Performance by Kitty Campbell and Jamie Newman. With Campbell on vocals and Newman on keyboard, this lunchtime performance is sure to brighten up your day.

* Thur. Dec. 15, noon to 1 p.m. Yoga with Tenley Studio. Join Jen from Tenley Studio for some tips and tricks to help release tension and anxiety in your daily life. This quick tutorial will include a few breathing exercises and stretches that can be done from the comfort of your office chair, and are designed to help you "reset" during a stressful workday or even just the stress of the holiday season.

* Fri. Dec. 16, noon to 1 p.m. Performance by Danny Weiss and Jeff Wimble. Clarinetist Weiss is a lecturer in the Rueff School of Visual and Performing Arts at Purdue, and guitarist Wimble is a graduate student in American Studies at Purdue. They perform extensively in the Lafayette area and have been featured in the Galleries on a number of occasions. Come enjoy lunch in Fountain Gallery with a jazz flavor.

* Fri. Dec. 16, 7:30 p.m. Performance by James Moon and Kim Strother. Moon and friends have regularly performed in Fountain Gallery and always bring a relaxed, yet powerful sound to the room. They “play the kind of stuff you'd want to hear coming from the jukebox in a neon holler, coming from a radio in the break room at a corn syrup factory on third shift…” (Jacob Sunderlin) It is our pleasure to present James and Kim Strother for a full evening performance – not to be missed.

The EMT Food Truck will be parked on Main Street near the Fountain Gallery, starting at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14 and Thursday, Dec. 15.

The Fountain Gallery is in the historic Perrin Building. The gallery is open noon to 7 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. All Purdue Galleries exhibitions and events are free and open to the public.
