Best-selling author will continue spring Presidential Lecture Series

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Presidential historian Doug Brinkley, an author of multiple award-winning and best-selling books, will be the next guest of Purdue’s Spring 2017 Presidential Lecture Series.

Brinkley will join Purdue President Mitch Daniels for an hourlong conversation and audience Q&A session at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (March 1) in Stewart Center’s Fowler Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

A professor of history and Baker Institute fellow at Rice University, Brinkley has authored numerous award-winning and best-selling books, including "The Reagan Diaries," chronicling the diary of 40th U.S. President Ronald Reagan.

Brinkley also has written books on former presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Theodore Roosevelt. He’s also penned books on Hurricane Katrina, John Kerry, and Walter Cronkite.

A history commentator for CNN News, Brinkley also is a contributing editor to Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, and American Heritage, among others. He’s an editor of Audubon.

Brinkley is a graduate of Ohio State and Georgetown universities. He has taught history at Tulane University, the University of New Orleans, the U.S. Naval Academy, Princeton University and Hofstra University.

The series concludes with Bjorn Lomborg, author of “The Skeptical Environmentalist,” on April 11. J.D. Vance, contributor to the New York Times and author of “Hillbilly Elegy,” and Stan Druckenmiller, renowned investor and philanthropist, were previous guests for this spring’s series.
