WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The commercial operations of more than 20 agricultural facilities in the eastern United States will now be coordinated a stone’s throw from Purdue University.

Cargill’s Agricultural Supply Chain North America, East Region, West Lafayette, Indiana, has relocated its offices to the Purdue Research Park of West Lafayette, Indiana. The Cargill Agricultural Supply Chain organization connects agricultural producers to food, feed and industrial customers throughout North America.

“We handle all the merchandising and logistics for our 14 country grain elevators and five soybean crush plants in the Eastern region,” said Ron Reichart, senior merchant at the regional headquarters. “A grain facility in Albany, New York, and a citrus facility in Tampa, Florida also fall within the East region.”

The East region generally covers the U.S. east of the Mississippi River.

The Cargill team is responsible for buying agricultural products (i.e., grain and soybeans) from U.S. producers. They also will handle accounting and other commercial and logistic operations for the various facilities in the region.

The office will initially employ 26 people, with the potential to grow to 30, Reichart said.

“Being at the Purdue Research Park keeps us very centrally located for our facilities,” Reichart said. “There’s also the added benefit of being close to Purdue’s College of Agriculture and all the businesses at this park. It makes a lot of sense for us to be here.”

Cargill employs 150,000 people in 70 countries. The Minnesota-based agricultural giant is the nation’s largest privately held company. More information about Cargill Agricultural Supply Chain North America is available online at www.cargill.com or by calling 765-420-1000.
