PNW to lower tuition rates for future non-resident domestic students

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University Northwest will offer tuition that is 1.5 times the in-state rate, beginning in fall 2018, to non-resident domestic students who are first-time freshmen, new-to-campus transfer students, or new graduate students, under a new rate structure approved Friday (Oct. 13) by Purdue’s Board of Trustees.

The new tuition and fee structure will apply to qualifying students in all undergraduate programs and select graduate programs.

“The Hammond campus is located only 3 miles from the Illinois state line, and the Westville campus less than 40 miles from Illinois and just 22 miles from Michigan, so Purdue Northwest already attracts a significant number of students from surrounding states,” said PNW Chancellor Thomas L. Keon.

The new rate structure reflects those for similar competing Midwestern institutions. Keon said that Purdue Northwest also has increased visibility in Michigan, Ohio and other states with its athletic programs moving to NCAA Division II this fall and competing as a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

“Student-athletes and top students from all over the country are recognizing the Purdue Northwest name and are interested in attending PNW,” Keon said. “PNW offers a quality degree distinguished by opportunities for real-world experience, at an excellent value. This new tuition and fee structure helps to make that degree more affordable to students from outside Indiana who can take advantage of all that we have to offer.”
