Virtual STAR

Virtual Summer Transition, Advising and Registration (VSTAR) is Purdue's online version of STAR. New international undergraduates and others who cannot attend STAR will take part in VSTAR. VSTAR guides students through campus resources and provides information on fall course registration.

Program dates:

Purdue automatically enrolls eligible students (international students and STAR exceptions) after they have confirmed Purdue attendance and paid their deposit. Those enrolled will receive an email message in May 2017 on how to access and complete this course.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Students have the greatest responsibility during this process because they register for their own courses. Each student will be assigned an academic advisor by his or her program. While your advisor will provide guidance, YOU will be the one to select courses and add them to your schedule. You will receive contact information for your advisor after completing VSTAR.

The Process:

Step 1: After receiving email instructions on how to access and complete VSTAR, log on and complete the VSTAR course. Within VSTAR you will:

  • Learn about the course registration system and other academic resources around campus
  • Learn more about what your academic college has to offer
  • Receive guidance on how to communicate with your academic advisor
  • Learn about how to make Purdue your new home

Step 2: Register for classes. Once your registration access period begins (this information will come from your academic advisor after you've completed VSTAR), visit the myPurdue portal and select courses for your first semester via the course registration system.
