Nutrition Counseling

Nutrition Counseling services at Purdue Recreation & Wellness provide a variety of services to help you achieve your food and nutrition goals! Keeping a healthy diet in college can be challenging. Remember that the foods and behaviors you choose now will likely impact your habits later. By making smart choices, you will be able to stay focused, increase your ability to do well in classes, and eat a diet rich in nutrients.

Resources for Students

  • One-on-one nutrition counseling appointments are available to all Purdue students.  Appointments are free and last 30-60 minutes. 
    • Registered Dietitian: You can meet with our Registered Dietitian to discuss your nutrition needs. 
    • Nutrition Coach: You can meet with a trained nutrition coach to get most of your nutrition questions answered, set goals, and learn more about a healthy diet. 

Getting Started

Do I need to see a Registered Dietitian?
  • Are you interested in learning how to enhance your athletic performance through proper nutrition?
  • What about losing or gaining weight in a healthy manner?
  • Are you struggling with an eating disorder?
  • Have you recently been diagnosed with diabetes, high cholesterol, or IBS?
  • Do you have a food allergy or are vegetarian and feel like you don't know what foods to choose?

Making an Appointment

If you answered yes to any of those questions, our Registered Dietitian is here to help you achieve your food and nutrition goals! Follow these steps to make an appointment:

  1. Complete the Nutrition Assessment Form. Appointment cannot be held until the assessment form is completed.
  2. You will be contacted by phone or email to schedule an appointment
  • There is a $25 no-show fee for cancelling, rescheduling, or missing an appointment with less than 24 hours ahead of time.
  • You can change or cancel appointments by calling 765-496-1788, or by emailing the Registered Dietitian.
  • Students arriving more than 10 minutes late for their appointment will not be able to meet with the registered dietitian that day and the session will be considered a no-show.
Do I need to see a nutrition coach?
  • Do I want general diet recommendation? 
  • Do I want to know more about a breakdown of calories?
  • Do I want a breakdown of macronutrients?
  • Do I want information on micronutrient intakes?

Making an Appointment

If you answered yes, one of our student nutrition coaches are here to help. Follow the below steps to schedule an appointment:

  1. Complete the Nutrition Coaching Form. 
  2. Schedule an appointment through BoilerConnect:
    • Log into BoilerConnect
    • Click "Make an Appointment" in the top right
    • Select "Student Life and Wellness" in appointment type
    • Select "Nutrition Coach" in location
    • Select "New Client" in reason/student service
  • Missed nutrition coaching appointments will result in a $10.00 no-show fee 
  • You can cancel appointments ahead of time by messaging your Nutrition Coach on BoilerConnect
