July 20, 2001 Appointments and promotions; faculty and staff honors– Margaret Finders, associate professor of curriculum and instruction in the School of Education, recently was elected to the Nominating Committee of the Conference on English Education. CEE is a constituent group for more than 2,700 English teacher educators within the National Council of Teachers of English. It provides a forum for sharing ideas on English preservice and in-service teacher education. – Leroy B. Schwarz received the 2001 Distinguished Service Award from the Manufacturing and Service Operations Management Society in July. Schwarz, a professor of management at the Krannert School, was cited for creating the Manufacturing and Service Operations Management Journal in 1996 and for serving as its editor-in-chief from inception to the present. The quarterly journal publishes scholarly articles on the theory and practice of managing the production of goods and services.
