June 26, 2004 More than 1,300 Purdue students to graduate at summer ceremonyWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – More than 1,300 Purdue University students will receive their degrees during commencement at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, in the Elliott Hall of Music. According to the registrar's office, 1,335 students are eligible to receive degrees, including 276 doctorates, 471 master's degrees and 588 undergraduate degrees. Purdue President Martin C. Jischke will be the commencement speaker. Ellen K. Chow, of Renton, Wash., will provide the student response. She will earn a master's degree in foods and nutrition from the School of Consumer and Family Sciences. Music for the ceremony will be presented by the Commencement Band, along with an ensemble of Purduette and Glee Club members from Purdue Musical Organizations. This will be the 193rd commencement ceremony at Purdue. The university has been recognizing summer graduates at the West Lafayette campus every year since 1984.
