Subject: Purdue experts to discuss food price drivers in Washington, D.C., briefing

A new Farm Foundation commissioned report called "What's Driving Food Prices?" will be released at 9 a.m. July 23 at the National Press Club. The report's authors, Wally Tyner, Chris Hurt and Philip Abbott, all Purdue University agricultural economists, will be on hand to discuss the report, which provides an objective analysis of the key drivers of food prices, including commodity supply and demand shocks, trade and exchange rate, and biofuels. A panel of respondents also will participate.

The forum will last until 11 a.m. and will be in the National Press Club's First Amendment Lounge, 529 14th Street NW, Washington, D.C. Journalists planning to cover the event should RSVP by noon CDT Friday (July 18) to Mary Thompson, Farm Foundation director of communication, at mary@farmfoundation.org.

Purdue Agricultural Communications will issue a press release on the report for those who cannot attend. The full report also will be available on the Web.
