Strategic Online Instructional Hiring Program

Purdue University Online (PUO) is announcing the second call for proposals in the second year of the Strategic Online Instructional Hiring Program in FY 23-24 to help the academic colleges grow and sustain online degree programs and non-degree offerings. The goal is to hire clinical faculty and/or lecturers assigned to develop, teach, support, and grow online programs and courses.

PUO will provide matching support for clinical faculty and lecturer salaries and fringe benefits for strategic opportunity hires in units that show a demonstrated need to support growing online program(s) or to launch a promising new online offering.

Financial Resources

The Strategic Online Faculty Hiring Program will typically provide the equivalent of up to one full year of support. Typically, the salary and fringe support will be 75% in year one and 25% in year two. Other arrangements are also possible depending on the preferences of the unit and availability of funds. The online program that these faculty members will contribute to is expected to fully fund the position after year two.

Once a hiring proposal has been approved, PUO and the academic unit/department will sign an MOU that will define the specifics of this arrangement.
