Matt Conaway appointed Interim Director

Purdue Bands & Orchestras is pleased to announce that Professor Matt Conaway has been appointed Interim Director of the “All-American” Marching Band. A national search will follow in the coming months.

Conaway has been an esteemed faculty member of Purdue Bands & Orchestras for over twelve years. During this time, he has served as Associate Director of the famed “All-American” Marching Band for 12 seasons. He also directs the “Boiler Brass” Men’s Basketball Pep Band and conducts both the Purdue Symphonic Band and Fall Concert Band. Beyond his commitment to Purdue Bands & Orchestras, Conaway also serves the University as a member of Purdue’s Advisory Committee on Equity, the Athletic Affairs Committee, and the Primary, Area, and University Promotions Committees. In his many efforts to improve student success, Conaway sat on the Purdue University Senate for seven years on behalf of Student Affairs and Steering Committees. His support for student organizations has also led him to sponsor the Beta Sigma chapter of Tau Beta Sigma, the Gamma Pi chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, the Bands & Orchestras Technology Office, and the Purdue Musical LGBTQ+ Society. We are confident in Professor Conaway’s direction of the “All-American” Marching Band during this transitional time and look forward to a successful season.
