Join us for an exclusive demonstration event hosted by the Center on AI for Digital, Autonomous, and Augmented Aviation (AIDA³) at Smart Operations Center, Purdue University Airport. This event will showcase how our research team rapidly translates cutting-edge AI and autonomy research from lab-to-life and Sim2Real, leveraging unique testing facilities to tackle real-world challenges in aviation.
Currently, it takes three people to operate a single drone. At AIDA³, we are pushing the boundaries of aerial autonomy to reverse this ratio—aiming for one operator to control 10, and eventually 100 drones. This demonstration will highlight our latest research breakthroughs and the critical role of AI-driven decision-making in uncrewed aerial systems (UAS).
What to Expect: Live Demonstrations & Research Showcases
Experience firsthand the latest advancements in UAV autonomy, featuring:
Real-time Human Sensing – Monitoring a remote operations team’s situational awareness and workload in real-time using brain-computer interfaces.
Autonomous Taxiing – Enabling UAVs to navigate the airport autonomously before and after flights.
Safe Landing – Ensuring smooth, AI-driven landing operations in diverse conditions.
Cybersecurity & Spoofing Attack Mitigation – Protecting UAV systems against cyber threats to maintain safe and reliable operations.
Conversational Route Planning with Large Language Models (LLMs) – Piloting an autonomous drone using natural language voice commands. For example:
“I want to deliver packages from Purdue to Jasper County with a drone.”
Expanding the Future of Aerial Autonomy
During this event, you will also learn about Discovery Park District, and our vision to expand PURT and SOC into the Purdue Uncrewed Proving ground, or PUP for short, – bringing together 4 unique testing facilities and supporting infrastructures/ vehicles within a 15-mile triangular corridor. The PUP will transform how we design and verify the safety of AI/ML of next-generation autonomy (aka AIrTonomy).
