Scientific advances hold the promise of future machines and robots performing much of the chores that are nowadays done by humans. But can they ever be worthy of moral concern? Answering this question can illuminate our concept of morality.
Bio: Mark Bernstein is Purdue's Joyce & Edward E. Brewer Chair in Applied Ethics. His focus is on animal ethics and metaphysics. He is the author of three books, the most recent being Without a Tear: Our Tragic Relationship with Animals.
