The National Weather Service is predicting heavy rains for the next several days, especially over northwest portions of Indiana. As shown on the map below, some areas could receive 6″-8″ of rain over the next few days. These rains could cause widespread flooding and flash flooding conditions, especially in areas that still have saturated soils from last weeks’ storms.
To assist Extension Educators, media, and others in preparing news releases, public service announcements, INPREPared has assembled variety of resources at: https://www.purdue.edu/engineering/ABE/INPREPared/flood-resources-for-educators/.
Among these resources are several PREPnotes that relate directly to flood-related issues. PREPnotes download in MS Word format, so that educators or others can quickly adapt them for customized news releases, or the contents can be shared on social media or other outlets.
Also included are additional flood-related resources INPREPared and Purdue Extension, as well as other sources.
