This bridge is unique in that it is a 1950s vintage welded steel railway bridge. The PRR was exploring the use of welding for bridge fabrication. The bridge has several types of fatigue cracks, including out-of-plane distortion cracks, top flange to stiffener weld cracks, and other small cracks in bracing members. The bridge also has two CIF failures. One is still in the bridge and the other was repaired with a bolted retrofit.
