Purdue Women in Agriculture (WIA) is now accepting nominations for its 2025 Emerging Women in Agriculture Leadership Award, Achievement Award and Leadership Award. These awards celebrate Indiana women who are leaders and innovators and have contributed to the success of Indiana agriculture.
Purdue Extension will offer the virtual Farmers Market Certificate program over four sessions in April to train market managers and vendors on best practices. Farmers markets play a critical role in connecting local producers with consumers, fostering community engagement and promoting access to fresh, healthy foods. The Farmers Market Certificate helps farmers market stakeholders to strengthen local food systems.
The Indiana General Assembly is debating property tax reform. Senate Bill 1 is a focus of the debate. The original bill introduced in January included the new governor’s campaign promises for property tax relief. It had a rollback of homeowner taxes to 2022 levels, an increase in homeowner deductions and a limit on annual tax increases of 2 percent for homeowners in certain categories, and 3 percent for all other property owners.
The annual meeting for the Indiana Forage Council (IFC) will take place Thursday, March 6, at the Branch Gathering Place + Coffee House in Greensburg. The meeting will run from 4-8:30 p.m. and includes IFC updates, dinner, an awards ceremony, and a viewing and discussion of “Roots So Deep,” a documentary series about cattle farmers, scientists and sustainable grazing.
Whether it’s called sustainable, regenerative or resilient agriculture, farmers across Indiana are exploring how to be effective stewards of the land while meeting food demands for the growing global population. Exploring these ideas, Purdue University’s College of Agriculture, in partnership with the Indiana Corn Marketing Council and the Indiana Soybean Alliance, will host their first-ever Resilient Agriculture Summit on March 13. The summit will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET at the Beck Agricultural Center, 4550 U.S. Route 52, West Lafayette, Indiana.
The National AgrAbility Project (NAP), housed at Purdue University’s Breaking New Ground Resource Center, invites farmers, ranchers and agriculture professionals to the 2025 AgrAbility National Training Workshop March 24-27 to address issues of disability in agriculture.
