Don't we need to know the height of the center of mass?
I think the height would be the distance parallel to the force, rather than perpendicular, meaning we can't use it to calculate the moment. If so, we should use the "d" along the x-axis as our perpendicular distance.
Should the forces on the diagonal support beam between B and D be factored into our equilibrium equations, or do they not apply because they are considered internal forces in the context of the problem?
In this problem, those are considered internal forces. The full streetlight including that diagonal support beam should be one body in the free body diagram.
For problem A, at the end of the video, he uses 2 times the vertical force of F_BH. Why would this be if F_BH and F_DK are of different magnitudes?
