Chemical engineers use innovative ideas to transform raw materials into high-value products or processes, with a focus on the roles of chemistry and chemical properties. These engineers apply the principles of chemistry and physics to design equipment and processes for manufacturing products such as fuel, detergents, paper and food.
Many of the mass-produced items ordinary people encounter and utilize regularly – ranging from cosmetics, electronics, spirits, plastics, medicines, and processed foods – could not have been created in bulk at factories without the assistance of chemical engineers.
