Amanda Bies Joins Purdue HTM

Purdue University’s White Lodging-J.W. Marriott, Jr. School of Hospitality and Tourism Management is pleased to welcome Amanda Bies as a new faculty member. With over two decades of experience in the hospitality industry, Amanda brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise, particularly in operations management.

Amanda’s academic and research interests lie in organizational psychology within service industries and adult learning, areas she is eager to explore further at Purdue. This semester, she will be teaching HTM 180 Hospitality Operations and CSR 282 Customer Relations Management, courses that align perfectly with her extensive industry background.

Amanda’s passion for education is evident through her previous recognition as a graduate student, where she received the Excellence in Teaching Award from Purdue University’s Committee for the Education of Teaching Assistants in 2011. Her academic journey was further supported by the Ross Fellowship and two additional research grants, which provided a strong foundation for her scholarly pursuits.

Expressing her excitement about joining the Boilermaker community, Amanda shared, “I’m inspired by Purdue’s unique blend of tradition and cutting-edge innovation—a place where the possibilities for the future are as groundbreaking as they are rooted in a rich history.” She is looking forward to contributing to the success of Purdue students, aiming to help them grow as self-directed learners equipped to tackle the ever-evolving challenges of the hospitality industry.
