Purdue HTM Welcomes Julie Abdinoor as New Faculty

Purdue’s White Lodging-J.W. Marriott, Jr. School of Hospitality and Tourism Management is excited to introduce Julie Abdinoor as a new professor to its esteemed faculty. A seasoned marketing professional with thirty years of industry experience, Abdinoor brings a wealth of knowledge to Purdue, particularly in virtual reality (VR) and marketing.
Abdinoor, a proud Boilermaker, holds a BA in advertising from Purdue and an MSM in Marketing from the Krannert School of Management. She is completing a Ph.D. in Technology, focusing on interdisciplinary research exploring virtual reality and its potential to promote social and emotional well-being. Her passion for technology’s positive impact on society aligns with Purdue’s One Health focus and the evolving landscape of Consumer Science.
In her new role, Abdinoor will teach a range of courses, including Fundamentals of Negotiations (CSR 344), Sales Force Management (CSR 415), Retail Internship (CSR 300), and Sales Internship (CSR 307). She is committed to equipping students with the skills and ethical grounding necessary to excel in today’s complex business environment.
Recognized as a Meta Research Fellow Finalist in AR/VR Future Technologies, Abdinoor is at the forefront of leveraging immersive technologies to enhance learning experiences. She is particularly excited about the opportunity to collaborate with Purdue’s talented students, whom she describes as dedicated and intelligent. “There’s a unique connection and shared spirit at Purdue that makes this community truly special,” Abdinoor said.
Looking ahead, Abdinoor hopes to lead initiatives that harness the power of VR to transform the classroom experience and foster positive emotions across the Purdue campus. Her vision includes positioning the Consumer Science program for significant growth and impact, contributing to Purdue’s mission of becoming the MIT of the Midwest.
With her deep ties to Purdue and a clear vision for the future, Abdinoor’s arrival marks a significant step forward for the White Lodging-J.W. Marriott, Jr. School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. The school is confident that her expertise and innovative approach will inspire students and colleagues.
