Community of excellence helps Psychological Sciences student thrive in HHS
Written By: Sydney DeCubellis
I chose Purdue’s College of Health and Human Sciences (HHS) for its immense opportunities within a committed and encouraging environment. Although Purdue is a large university, the opportunities to engage and connect with peers make it feel smaller and more manageable.
Being a minority, I am well-versed in feeling out of place, but at Purdue, I was introduced to so many incredible faculty members and students who reinforce my feeling of purpose on campus.
At Purdue, I felt seen, heard and able to thrive. HHS has done an exceptional job of fostering a community that stresses academic excellence and gives you the resources to achieve it.
The HHS Success Mentors program and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Undergraduate Committee are two HHS resources that impacted me. These programs connected me to individuals with similar outlooks and aspirations and really cultivated a sense of purpose and belonging for me on campus. I’m confident you too will find your fit at Purdue.
