India (Madras Presidency): fruits, leaf-buds (or ‘cabbage’) and fusiform roots eaten; (Bombay Presidency): roots eaten; (Rajasthan): fusiform roots, fruits and leaf buds eaten. A cooling drink, Neera, is made from the fresh sap of the plant.
