Use of Facilities
A commitment to free speech does not mean that the university cedes control over its facilities and spaces. While campus mall spaces are, for example, generally available for expressive activities, they do not have the same status as a street, sidewalk or park under public ownership. The university’s facilities use policies establish long-standing and content-neutral time, place and manner regulations for the use of campus facilities and spaces to ensure campus safety and the orderly functioning of university operations. Individuals or groups wishing to reserve campus space are encouraged to review and follow the university’s established procedures for reserving campus space.
