Purdue announces growing presence in India at event with Sen. Young and Ambassador Garcetti |
Purdue University is further strengthening its educational partnership with India through the announcement of its Center for Education and Engagement in the country, as well as a U.S.-India Center of Excellence in Semiconductors (CES) jointly with the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, with support from the governments of the U.S. and India. President Mung Chiang unveiled plans for the new Purdue-India centers during an on-campus visit by U.S. Sen. Todd Young and U.S. Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti on Friday (Nov. 1). Following their fireside chat, Chiang formally announced the centers by signing a declaration, with Young and Garcetti adding their signatures as witnesses. (Learn more)
Purdue University and India strengthen 125-year relationship to drive partnershipIn a significant step to expand Purdue University’s global leadership in innovation and business, President Mung Chiang led a high-level delegation on a three-day visit to India last week, aimed at solidifying the university’s role as a pivotal partner in India’s rapidly growing semiconductor, finance and emerging technology sectors. Indian students participate in STARS Lite program at Purdue |
| In August, Purdue, in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad, hosted 21 incredible Indian students who came to campus for our two-week “STARS Lite” program. STARS Lite is part of a bilateral collaboration between the US and India, under the Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC) “India-US Collaborative Workforce Development Program in Semiconductor Manufacturing.” The students participated in workshops and cultural immersion activities and increased their technical knowledge, while experiencing life on a U.S. campus and in “small town USA” West Lafayette! |

I currently lead GITAM Deemed to be University as President. Our goal is to build GITAM into a global top-100 University by 2040. $1.5M USDA NIFA grant will help Purdue researcher identify community-based food waste solutions The Purdue University College of Agriculture’s Department of Agricultural Economics has received a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture. The grant will fund a research and Extension project titled “Designing Co-Created Solutions to Improve Nutrition Security, Health Equity, and Environmental Sustainability.” (Read More) |
What lies beneath: Mars’ subsurface ice could be a key to sustaining future habitats on other planets Purdue University planetary scientist Ali Bramson’s research is laying the foundation for future extraterrestrial exploration. She is focused on finding ice deposits beneath the barren surfaces of the moon and Mars, providing a buried resource important for future human habitats and even space travel itself. Subsurface ice also is a compelling target for astrobiology, climatology and geology research. (Read More) |
