LSIS Joins Innovative Learning
The Libraries and School of Information Studies (LSIS) has joined Innovative Learning. Building on a long history of supporting teaching and learning, LSIS is excited to contribute to Innovative Learning’s efforts to develop courses, improve instruction, engage students, and support teaching and learning at Purdue.
LSIS provides resources, tools, and instruction aimed at enabling faculty, staff and students to find and use information to advance learning. Some specific tools offered by LSIS that may be useful to instructors during the pandemic include Library Reading Lists (Leganto), e-book collections and online support and consultations (Ask a Librarian). As one of the original partners of the IMPACT program, LSIS has worked closely with Purdue Online, CIE, and the units that work with instructors to create engaging, student-centered courses. LSIS will contribute to the array of resources and services Innovative Learning offers instructors and students. Recognizing the collective strength of the units that make up Innovative Learning, LSIS is committed to collaborating on new Innovative Learning projects to advance innovative and effective teaching and learning at Purdue.
You may see some new faces in Innovative Learning meetings as LSIS faculty and staff join Innovative Learning committees and groups. Clarence Maybee, Associate Professor in LSIS, is a member of the Innovative Learning Senior Leadership team. After working on the development team for IMPACT X and IMPACT X+, Rachel Fundator, LSIS Information Literacy Instructional Designer, is currently on an Innovative Learning team focused on providing support and preparation for student learning online. Jarrod Hurt, LSIS Creative Services Manager, is a member of the Innovative Learning Communications Committee. Sarah Reifel, LSIS Instructional Developer, is serving on the Innovative Learning Web Oversight Group.
The LSIS faculty and staff are excited at the prospect offered by Innovative Learning to collaborate on new ways of enhancing teaching and learning at Purdue.
