Is Your Syllabus a Contract?

Wed., Feb. 9, 11 a.m.-12 noon. Virtual or LB440A Helmke Library

Some statements have a ring of truth: the customer is always right; possession is 9/10ths of the law; you can’t take it with you. And so it is with the syllabus. It seems like it’s a contract. It’s a written document given to people who paid to take your class. It includes obligations, as well as penalties for nonperformance. At least that’s the argument students have made when suing professors over their syllabi. Find out how concerned you should be. Please let CELT know if you will be attending in person or virtual.
