TLCoP April 4: Creating transdisciplinary learning experiences using Writing Across the Curriculum
All Purdue West Lafayette instructors, teaching assistants, staff, and students are invited to join the Teaching and Learning Community of Practice (TLCoP) online for its third session on Monday, April 4, noon-1 p.m. ET. The session will explore how Writing Across the Curriculum (WIC) instructional strategies can be used to address writing within curricula and promote or create transdisciplinary experiences like those prioritized by the Innovation Hub.
The session will begin with Harry C. Denny, professor of English and director of the Writing Lab, and Case Tompkins, senior lecturer, Lyle School of Civil Engineering, sharing their expertise and experiences with WIC to improve student learning, and how instructors can leverage resources at (or beyond) PWL to incorporate writing into their courses.
Participants will then have time to discuss how WIC strategies are or might help their students practice and hone their writing skills throughout their academic careers.
All TLCoP sessions during the spring 2022 semester will be held online via Zoom, so please register for each. Further details on the community of practice and other TLCoP sessions this semester are available on the TLCoP website.
TLCoP is part of the Innovative Learning hub approach to connect PWL instructors to the resources they need to engage students, develop courses in any instructional modality, and enhance learning across the University.
