TLCoP Oct. 9: Leveraging Technology for Teaching with Accessibility

Purdue instructors, teaching assistants, and staff are invited to join the Teaching and Learning Community of Practice (TLCoP) online Wednesday, Oct. 9, 1-2 p.m. ET. for its second session of Fall 2024. This session will focus on strategies for leveraging technology to support accessibility and will feature Purdue instructors and staff sharing innovative strategies they use to support all learners in Purdue’s expanding learning environments. There will also be time for questions and sharing from other participants.

Among those invited to share are:

  • William Ledbetter, lecturer, Computer and Information Technology, Polytechnic Institute, will highlight his creation of edited video demonstrations of laboratory and lecture sections of his course to supplement student learning.
  • Lakshmy Mohandas, software design lecturer/senior design coordinator in EPICS, College of Engineering, will share her teaching with HyFlex modality and using the Ed Discussion artificial intelligence bot.
  • Leslie Miller, faculty accessibility consultant in the Center for Instructional Excellence, who will talk about the Universal Design for Learning guidelines, particularly intentional design options that support and value the interaction needs and preferences of all learners.
  • David Schwarte and Alex Mason, assistive technology specialists, Purdue University Online Teaching and Learning Technologies, will discuss accessibility resources for instructors.
