Welcome to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) path. This path discusses what the field of SoTL covers, how to develop your SoTL research question, and also provides resources on getting started with your own SoTL project.

Aims/Goals:

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) has become increasingly valued over the last few years both at Purdue and in institutions across the country. As instructors become more interested and involved in SoTL, this content area can provide some resources and guidance for instructors starting to develop their own SoTL projects.

Objectives:

Upon completing this content area, participants will be able to:

• Define scholarship of teaching and learning,
• Identify four types of SoTL research questions,
• Consider appropriate research designs for SoTL projects,
• Consider ethical issues that can arise in SoTL projects,
• Identify potential data sources for SoTL projects,
• Identify certifications and approvals needed for SoTL projects.
