Police urge campus community to move on-street vehicles for snow removal before 2 p.m. today (Feb. 17)

A winter scene on the Purdue University campus.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. —

Ahead of forecasted ice and snow, Purdue University police are urging all students, staff and faculty on the West Lafayette campus to move their vehicles immediately from several streets to assist with treatment efforts and snow removal.

Individuals parked on Purdue or City of West Lafayette snow routes must move their vehicles to an alternate location by 2 p.m. today (Feb. 17) in order to avoid being towed at the owner’s expense. This includes fraternities, sororities and cooperative life residents parked on the snow routes. Snow routes are shown on the online map.

The following areas are immediately available for temporary parking with relaxed parking enforcement while snow removal occurs:

  • Grant Street Parking Garage (gates are open)
  • Harrison Street Parking Garage (gates are open)
  • McCutcheon Drive Parking Garage
  • Northwestern Avenue Parking Garage
  • Wood Street Parking Garage
  • The north end of the R-lot (located north of Ross-Ade Stadium)
  • Discovery Park lot (off Nimitz Drive and South Martin Jischke Drive)
  • The north end of the France A. Córdova Recreational Sports Center lot (near Stadium Avenue)

The top levels of these garages will be closed temporarily. Motorists are reminded that reserved and handicap spaces in all parking garages require special permits and will continue to be enforced at all times. Please note, parking enforcement will not be relaxed at the University Street Parking Garage.

If a vehicle is towed from an on-campus snow route, please contact the Purdue University Police dispatch center at 765-494-8221 to determine the location of the vehicle.

CityBus service may be available from alternate parking locations or close by to aid in getting motorists to their final destinations. All campus route maps and schedules are available on the CityBus website. CityBus also offers real-time GPS tracking of buses on the Where Is the Bus? webpage or on the MyCityBus mobile app. The correct wearing of face masks is required while riding CityBus.
