WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Rose Hollermann is back on the podium.

Hollermann, a four-time U.S. Paralympian who plays wheelchair basketball for Team USA, won her third medal during the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

What’s next for Hollermann?

Through a partnership between Guild and Team USA, Hollermann will begin classes at Purdue Global this fall. Guild is the official education, skilling and career mobility provider for Team USA. Purdue Global, Purdue’s online university for working adults, is the preferred online university and degree provider of the Guild and Team USA Learning Network. Hollermann’s next goal: earn a master’s degree in education.

“It’s always hard to fall just short of winning a gold,” Hollermann said. “We’re still extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished in Paris. It’s a huge honor to win a medal at the Paralympics.”

She played on the teams that won the bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and the gold at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

“It’s such a huge honor to be able to represent Team USA at the Paralympics,” Hollermann said. “It’s about representing the small-town community I come from, all the people that helped me along this journey and mostly my family.”

Hollermann prepared for her fourth Paralympics by committing to consistency. She said the team put in countless hours practicing on the court, lifting in the weight room and watching film of other teams as part of the training process.

Commitment is not a new concept to Hollermann.

In 2001, when she was 5, her family was involved in a car accident that killed two of her brothers and partially paralyzed her from the waist down. Her family and a dedicated team of medical professionals and therapists were committed to helping her to walk and rebuild her strength. Her team kept pushing her, especially encouraging her to explore various sporting activities, including swim therapy and then basketball therapy.

Thanks to Guild, she’s bringing that same commitment to Purdue Global.

“I can’t wait to start having the opportunity to learn and grow every day with Purdue Global — an online system that supports my busy life. It’ll be great to be able to grow off the court as a person with my master’s degree,” Hollermann said.

Hollermann knows her work on the court has paid off by expanding awareness of the Paralympics, its various sports and the many athletes.

“I just feel so honored that I’ve gotten to compete in so many Paralympics and, thanks to Guild, to have Purdue Global with me for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games,” she said.

Purdue Global has been an educational partner with Guild since May 2019. This additional partnership with the Guild and Team USA Learning Network, announced in April, covers a five-year period. Guild is the leader in opportunity creation for America’s workforce.
