WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA) has granted initial accreditation for the Purdue Global School of Nursing’s Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree program.

The accreditation is effective for six years and valid through 2030, which is the maximum number of years a school of nursing can be accredited for with initial accreditation.

“This is a significant milestone as it’s the first time in Purdue Global’s ASN program history that accreditation has been attained,” said Melissa Burdi, dean and vice president of Purdue Global’s School of Nursing. “We recognize and value the importance of accreditation as it reflects an organization’s commitment and ability to adhere to the highest standards of quality, excellence and professionalism.”

To become NLN CNEA accredited, a nursing program must submit a self-study report, receive an on-site program evaluation team report, pass an NLN CNEA program review committee and comply with the NLN CNEA’s standards of accreditation.

Purdue Global currently offers the ASN program in Iowa and Maine, which is approved by the Iowa and Maine boards of nursing. Students at partner sites have access to state-of-the-art high-fidelity simulation labs, classroom spaces and in-person instructors.

“I am proud and humbled that we have received such an important accreditation,” Burdi said. “We thank our ASN team for their outstanding work they do each and every day that drives student success and academic quality.”
