Indiana students to get free FAFSA filing help Feb. 23

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Indiana residents planning to attend college or a vocational/technical school in the fall of 2025 should submit the 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before April 15 for consideration of state-based financial aid. Families can get free FAFSA help from financial aid experts during College Goal Sunday on Feb. 23 from 2-4 p.m. local time. Students and families can learn more and find all 39 participating CGS site locations at collegegoalsunday.org/.
Prior to attending the event, new dependent student filers and at least one parent should set up their Federal Student Aid account username and password (FSA-ID) by going to https://studentaid.gov/ and clicking on “Create Account” in the top right.
The 2025-26 FAFSA will collect 2023 tax information. Each family member (parent(s)/student/spouse) must now give consent for the FAFSA to retrieve their IRS tax data via the new Direct Data Exchange. Parents should also bring their 2023 IRS tax return, W-2 forms, and current bank statements and investment information for any manual data entries. Students who worked in 2023 should bring their own 2023 IRS tax return, W-2 form, and current bank statements and investment information. Learn more about submitting a FAFSA at https://studentaid.gov/apply-for-aid/fafsa/filling-out.
