Nominations sought for Special Boilermaker Award
Nominations are being accepted for the Special Boilermaker Award, given annually by the Purdue Alumni Association.
The Special Boilermaker Award was established in 1981 to recognize a member of the Purdue faculty or staff who has contributed significantly to the quality of life and/or the betterment of the educational experience for a substantial number of Purdue students.
Consideration will be given to the nominee’s contribution in one or more of the following:
* Taking initiative in the creative solution of problems.
* Unselfishly contributing time and effort.
* Being a "silent leader."
* Devotion to efforts beyond the expectations of the person’s professional role.
Nominations should be submitted online by 5 p.m. June 1.
In order to be considered for the award, a one-page description of the nominee’s contributions as they relate to Purdue student life must accompany each nomination.
Nominations can be made by any person or group affiliated with Purdue, including students, faculty, staff or alumni. The award winner will be chosen by the Purdue Alumni Association Special Boilermaker Award Committee.
The recipient is honored during an on-field presentation at a Purdue football game and a nameplate is added to a plaque in the Purdue Alumni Association office, as well as a kiosk on Purdue Mall. In addition, the awardee receives an iconic locomotive replica.
