Recipients named for 2017 Awards for Excellence in Digital Education
Digital Education and the Office of the Provost have announced the recipients of the 2017 Awards for Excellence in Digital Education.
The annual awards, formerly called Excellence in Distance Learning awards, are intended to recognize professional accomplishment and to promote creative and effective approaches to learning delivered via distance learning media. This year the awards have been expanded to better recognize the efforts of both faculty and staff members who contribute to distance learning initiatives throughout the Purdue system.
The 2017 recipients are:
* Charlene Sullivan, associate dean of undergraduate programs and associate professor of management – Excellence in Teaching Credit Award, MGMT 610.
* Bruce Erickson, education distance and outreach director, Agronomy; Janine Black, elearning project manager, Agronomy; and Debbie Runshe, instructional designer, IT Teaching and Learning Technologies -- Excellence in Teaching Noncredit Award, Precision Agriculture.
* John LaMaster, instructor of mathematical sciences, IPFW -- Innovative Course Design and Use of Technology Award, MA 153.
* Jennifer Richardson, professor of curriculum and instruction -- Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award.
* Jeff Chicki, instructional design specialist, IT Teaching and Learning Technologies; Erica Vail, instructional design specialist, IT Teaching and Learning Technologies; and Sheree Buikema, instructional design specialist, IT Teaching and Learning Technologies -- MVP: Instructional Design and Support Award.
These awards are accompanied by a $2,500 cash award. The cash award is divided among multiple awardees in a category.
Faculty recipients of Excellence in Digital Education awards were honored at the Provost's Faculty Award Convocation; staff recipients were honored at a Digital Education ceremony. A list of past recipients of the Excellence in Distance Learning award is available online.
