Nutrition Science announces Eat Local classes for fall
The Department of Nutrition Science is continuing its Eat Local cooking classes this fall with sessions on peppers, squash, kale and more.
Local produce will be used in each of the fresh, healthy, interactive cooking classes. All classes will include instruction, hands-on cooking and tasting of all recipes, and a recipe booklet to take home. Participants are encouraged to bring containers in case there are leftovers.
Classes scheduled for the fall are:
Sept. 6: Peppers that Pop!
Sept. 20: Simply Squash
Oct. 4: Crazy for Kale
Oct. 18: The Perfect Pear
Nov. 1: Colorful Cauliflower
Nov. 15: Thanksgiving Desserts
Dec. 6: Christmas Side Dishes
Participants must be over 18, and all experience levels are welcome. Classes will be held 5:30-7 p.m. in Lyles-Porter Hall Demo Kitchen, Room 1107. Free parking is available after 5 p.m. in the Harrison Street Parking Garage attached to Lyles-Porter Hall.
