Nathan Utz named vice president in Office of Industry Partnerships

Nathan Utz has been named vice president in Purdue’s Office of Industry Partnerships, effective today (Dec. 14).
In this role, Utz will provide leadership, strategic direction and oversight to the Office of Industry Partnerships (OIP). Taking a holistic and integrated approach, OIP supports University-wide strategic relationships with industry partners to develop and expand opportunities for talent development and recruitment, research and joint programs, philanthropy and sponsorship, and executive and online education. OIP also partners on commercialization and licensing and on economic development opportunities with the Purdue Research Foundation. OIP is housed within the Purdue for Life Foundation and reports to the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research and Partnerships.
Utz joins Purdue from the University of Notre Dame, where he served as the senior director for corporate relations and built an industry engagement model geared toward increasing corporate partnerships and overall financial support for the university.
Utz was also the academic advancement program director for the university’s College of Engineering, where he redefined academic fundraising and assisted in securing more than $150 million. Before his work at Notre Dame, he was a partial owner of the private engineering/architectural firm McDonough Associates Inc., where he was responsible for business development, management, fundraising and client relations.
“Nathan brings a results-oriented approach to Purdue’s Office of Industry Partnerships,” said Theresa Mayer, executive vice president for research and partnerships. “He will play a key role in increasing nongovernmental support for Purdue through corporate relationships.”
Utz holds a BA in civil engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
