Midcareer faculty in Education and Health and Human Sciences honored with Trailblazer Award for research impact

Associate professors Patricia Morita-Mullaney from the College of Education and Zoe Taylor from the College of Health and Human Sciences have been honored with this year’s Trailblazer Award for significant research impact.

Morita-Mullaney was promoted to associate professor in 2021 and is a licensed K-12 teacher whose primary appointment is in English language learning. Her nominator states: “Morita-Mullaney’s impact is recognizable through her scholarship, large-scale grant funding, and her direct impact to educational and language policy in Indiana and beyond. To date, Dr. Morita-Mullaney has secured nearly $13 million in external and internal funding to contribute to research, teaching and engagement in English language learning and bilingual education.” Learn more about professor Morita-Mullaney.

Taylor was promoted to associate professor in 2019 and is a recent Fulbright Scholar whose primary appointment is in Human Development and Family Science. Her research is focused on risk and resilience in vulnerable youth and their families, and she serves as a consulting editor for three journals spanning early adolescence, family psychology and human development. The Purdue University Trailblazer Award is an annual award for midcareer faculty in the College of Education, College of Liberal Arts, College of Health and Human Sciences, and the Purdue University Libraries and School of Information Studies whose recent research, scholarship or creative work has made a significant impact in the disciplines of humanities, social sciences and information sciences.

Morita-Mullaney and Taylor will be honored at the Faculty Awards Convocation on May 9 and will each receive a monetary prize of $2,000.
